FIFA 2010 finally over

So! It happened.

South Africa did it!

The 2010 FIFA world cup was hosted in South Africa, and even though I personally believed it would turn into the the greatest South African fiasco since the Kubus scam, everything went just great.

Apart from those damn Vu Vu Zelas!

I am NOT a football fan, and I am not a football follower. I find it hard to fathom how so many people can become so captivated by a game that is, in my opinion, something children do on playgrounds.

Of course, when a little older those same kids will play for their local club, just so that they can spend some time with their mates in the pub after the match. That I do understand.

Possibly the biggest news coming from the FIFA 2010 world cup, at this point in time, is Paris Hilton getting bust for smoking dope. Now, even though the magistrate found that young Paris had not been smoking the good 'erb, we are all allowed our own opinions.

The sad part of the FIFA 2010 world cup is coming. Tomorrow morning the Netherlands goalkeeper, Maarten Stekelenburg, is going to wake up feeling lousy, wondering how he could possibly have let the ball through.

There will be those team members who will have lots to say about what Maarten should have done, or could have done, but, what needs to be borne in mind, is that the ball had to get past the rest of the Dutch team first.

Those spectators who watched the match on Tv, or who were at Soccer City, also have no place in criticising. Criticism will happen. It's human nature. Unless you were on the field, you know squat, so, shut up.

What we do need to take from this World Cup, and I know I am, is that everyone who participated in the 2010 World Cup is a winner. Without the inputs and contributions of all the players, the spectators, the organizers, and yes, even the sceptics, this World Cup was a success.

The Spanish Captain Iker Casilas will be receiving the Trophy for the World, not just for Spain.

Awesome hub, Tony. I'm glad the soccer is over too. I didn't even watch too much of it, but was enjoying seeing my one son so interested in watching the 2010 Fifa World Cup games, right from the start.

Yeah well. I don't like admitting the fifa thing went well, and yes, the Zooty was very into it. Even picked the winning team early on

Yeah - I think many of us are about soccered out! I'm glad Spain won, I thought the opening and closing ceremonies were totally awesome and now we're back to the normal stuff again. Except I think that South Africa got an enormous emotional boost from the SWC.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and welcome to yet another Sefican Hubber!

Love and peace

Tony (yeah, I know - another one! LOL!)

Howzit bru!

Lol, I didn't watch any of the fifa, because I thought it would be a mass flop. However, I do agree with you, it has been an enormous boost, emotionally yes, and bonding.

Sadly, since Madiba retired the various segments of our population started drifting apart, and the fifa thing does seem to have overshadowed the Zumas, Terreblanches and Malemas of our little world.

heh heh, I am a natural know-it-all arrogant woteva, and this hub is my apology to the world, football, and Sarf Efrikker.

Thanks for stopping by Tony, much appreciated. (btw, you put together some great reading on yr hubs)
